I Can See Clearly Now

The switch to homemade cleaners is going smoother than I had even imagined.  And the savings is incredible!  My new favorite is my homemade glass cleaner.  I did some online research and looked at about a dozen different recipes for glass cleaner.  I mixed and mingled suggested ingredients and amounts, and this is what I came up with.  I think it works even better than the commercial brands!

Homemade Glass Cleaner

  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cups warm water
Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle.   Shake well.  Shake before using to mix any cornstarch which may have settled in bottle to avoid plugging spray mechanism.

  5. Nice! I'd like to switch to making my own glass cleaner if only my hubby would quit doing me favors by stocking up on Windex when it's on sale. Since we ran out, I am making my own toilet bowl cleaner: 1/2 c baking soda, 1/4c white vinegar & 10 drops of tea tree essential oil. My guess is hubby won't notice and restock since he's not the one who generally has to clean it!

    1. Awesome! The tea tree oil is a nice touch. Do you pour the ingredients directly into the bowl or mix them first?
