Oopsie Daisy

We all make mistakes from time to time.

Occasionally when I'm working on a set of facial rounds I may miscount stitches, or accidentally fasten off a round too soon, or make one or two more than I need.  This leaves me with quite a collection of odds.
I'm now offering sets of Cotton Face Scrubbie "Oopsies" !  Each set of 10 is chosen by random from the selection available at the time.  Every set is unique.  And they're HALF the price of a first quality set of facial rounds.

These "seconds" are just as soft on your delicate facial skin as the top quality rounds I usually produce.  And they work just as well for makeup remover, toner, or face wash.

But because a set is a random collection of colors and sizes -You save!!

All my face rounds are 100% cotton, machine washable, reusable and eco-friendly.  Care Instructions:  Machine wash. Tumble dry or lay flat to air dry.

If you prefer a set with rounds which are more uniform in size and all the same color - you'll love my original Cotton Face Scrubbies.  Available here:

Autumn Inspired Crochet

It seems as if Mother Nature didn't get the memo, but it really Autumn.  Although all these 80 degree days keep trying to convince me otherwise.  To help get past the weather and get into cooler state of mind, I've put together a collection of ideas for some cute crochet projects with a Fall theme.

1)  Autumn here in the mountains of western North Carolina is all about the colorful display of the changing leaves.  Bring that color indoors when you create these beautiful chestnut leaf place mats.  Pattern by ABC Knitting Patterns.

2)  Leave the real acorns for the squirrels and chipmunks, while you craft this colorful acorn garland to bring the feeling of fall indoors.  Pattern by Yarnspirations.

3)   This Autumn Spice Mandala Doily is beautiful enough to leave out all year round! I can just imagine it in Christmas colors or beautiful shades to match your everyday decor.   Pattern by BellaCrochet

4)  During the fall,  the thoughts of little ones often turn to Halloween and trick or treating.  Hook up an adorable jack o'lantern bag for holding all the sweet treats!  Pattern by Sewrella

5)  If you're already thinking ahead to Thanksgiving, you can stuff this cute little turkey before you get around to stuffing yourself with the one you roast for dinner.   Pattern by 5 Little Monsters

What's your favorite part of Autumn?  Do you have any crochet projects planned as the weather cools?

Happy National Kissing Day!

Pucker up, buttercup!  Today (June 19) is National Kissing Day.  To celebrate, I've collected a few interesting facts about kissing:

  • When you kiss someone your heart beats faster and more oxygen reaches your brain.
  • Couples that kiss tend to live longer.  One study determined that men who get a peck on the cheek from their wives before heading out to work lived five years longer
  • They also tend to have happier, healthier relationships
  • Kissing for one minute burns 26 calories.
  • A pucker kiss involves only two facial muscles.  French kissing involves all 34.
  • The science of kissing is called philematology
  • On July 16, 1439, King Henry VI banned kissing in England. to curtail the spread of disease

Another fact?  It's no fun kissing someone with dry, chapped lips.  Which is why you always want to have your lip balm close by!  This is easy with one of Queen B's lip balm holders.

Queen B's Busy Work Lip Balm Holders

Keep that balm attached to your keys, purse, back pack, jacket zipper, or diaper bag and never misplace it again.Happy kissing!!

My Crochet "Must Haves"

Everyone who does any sort of crafting or hobby has a list of those items that they consider "must haves".  Things that make the task at hand just a little easier or more enjoyable. Obviously the only true MUST haves for crocheting are yarn and a hook or two.  But these are a few of the items I always want to have close by for when I sit down to crochet.

A Yarn Bowl
The Man of the House gave me this yarn bowl from JustMare on Etsy for Christmas a few years ago. And I LOVE it.  It keeps my yarn from rolling away while I'm working with it.  Helps cut down on snags and knots.   It is an absolute dream come true.  And it's so pretty!

Comfort Grip Crochet Hooks
I have a full selection of traditional crochet hooks.  And I still use them from time to time.  But once I started crocheting for my business, my hands would get tired and crampy sometimes.  Especially when I was working on a large wholesale order!  That's when I asked for the first set of larger handle hooks.  Whether it's the less expensive set with rubber grips or the more expensive Clover brand hooks - these are pretty much a requirement for me these days!

Stitch Markers
I do a LOT of crocheting in the round, making stitch markers absolutely necessary!  I would love a pretty set of stitch markers.  I see so many beautiful ones on Etsy, Pinterest, and Instagram.  But I am constantly misplacing them and would be heartbroken to lose those.  So, I stick to the simple plastic ones for now.

Tape Measure and Sewing Gauge
Whether it's sizing hats or measuring and blocking washcloths, I am constantly reaching for one or the other.  My tape measure is another one of those things I always seemed to be misplacing.  Until my awesome hubby gave me the 3' tape measure with the keyring which now stays attached to my project bag.

Last, but not least...  Coffee!
I know, I know.  It's not exactly a crochet related item.  But it's my go to energy drink.  Whether it's getting me started in the morning, or helping me get through a late night work session.  And how pretty is that pottery mug?  (another gift from The Man of the House from Squeaky Wheel Pottery located in the River Arts District of Asheville)

Based on how many of my "must have" items were gifts from the Man of the House - maybe I should include him on this list!

Easter Crochet Inspiration

Last month, I shared some beautiful Celtic inspired crochet designs in honor of St Patrick's Day.  It only seems fitting that for April I should show you some equally lovely Easter crochet patterns I have discovered from around the interwebs!

Easter just isn't Easter without a chocolate bunny (or two)!  But if you're trying to lose a few pounds like me - it's just too tempting to have the real thing around.  Fortunately, this crocheted version by Doni Speigle has all the charm, without the calories.

Pattern Available - HERE or HERE

Another Easter "must have" is the stuffed bunny.  And I am completely infatuated with this "Angie Bunny" by Crochet Objet.  As if she's just not pretty enough just as she is - there's also a free dress pattern for her available on the website!

Angie Bunny Pattern Available - HERE

We can't forget the real Reason for the Holiday.  For a pretty reminder - make this delicate Easter Cross!

Free Pattern - HERE

What's cuter than a little pair of bunny slippers?  This pair by Knot Your Nana's Crochet are just too cute for words!  I just wish the pattern as available in larger sizes so I could make a pair for the grand kid (or myself!)

If you're feeling a little more ambitious, you could try your hand at this crochet Easter Egg wreath!

Free Pattern Available HERE

I'm not 100% sure this blanket qualifies as an Easter project, but it has bunnies.  And it's just TOO cute not to include!!

Have you made any cute Easter crafts? Or seen any patterns that you loved and were inspired by? I'd love for you to share a link in the comments so we can see them!

Celtic Crochet

March always sets my mind to Spring, Easter, and St. Patrick's Day.  The shop is slowly filling with some fun Easter items I have created.  But we'll talk about that soon.  Today, in honor of St Patrick's day, I want to share some beautiful Celtic inspired crochet designs which I have come across recently.

If you're looking for a basic four leaf clover, check out this pattern from Quiet Raine Knits.  It would be adorable on a pin or barrette. Or use it as an appliqué on a tote bag or an article of clothing.

Pattern Available HERE

Another lovely piece is this Celtic Knot Bracelet by Jennifer E. Ryan.  I love this piece and might have to make one for myself before the 17th!

Pattern Available as a Free Ravelry Download HERE

While you're at it, she has a lot of gorgeous designs! Check out her blog at Celtic Knot Crochet.

For the tiniest of those who will be wearing the green, this Celtic Dream Bonnet is a must make.  I get a little bit of a grand baby craving every time I look at it!  Maybe I could convince the grand kid to wear it.  He's only 5.  No?  Too bad!  I mean, seriously...  does it get much cuter than this??

Celtic Dream Bonnet Pattern HERE

There are also matching beanie and cowl patterns for the older family members!

Or, you could make this beautiful Celtic Winter Cowl by Left in Knots as a little something special for yourself (or someone else)

Last, is this stunning shrug pattern (also by Jennifer E. Ryan!). I can just imagine a beautiful Celtic bride wearing it on her special day.

This is just a handful of the amazing patterns I found to inspire my creativity this March.
Which is your favorite?
