Simple Pizza Crust

For some reason, I spent a lot of time being more than a little intimidated by the idea of making my own pizza crust. Until I finally tried it! It was so much easier than I ever anticipated, and tastes SO much better than the pre-made store bought stuff!

Simple Pizza Crust
(makes 2 pizza crusts)

2 cups warm water
2 (.25oz) packets active dry yeast
2 teaspoons sugar
5 cups flour
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons salt

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water.  Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

Stir in flour, salt, and oil.  Beat until smooth.

Let rest 5 minutes.

Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface.  Divide into two equal balls of dough.

Pat into a round.

Place dough round on lightly greased pizza pan or stone dusted with cornmeal.

Spread with toppings of your choice and bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.  Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Left side: veggie with roma tomato slices, mushrooms, fresh basil, and black olives.
Right side: pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms.
Pepperoni and cheese

  1. Oh my! That looks amazing. I will have to give it a try. I have made pizza before using pre made dough, but yours looks so good! I have a mixer, so I think I know something I will try this week. Thank you.
