Homemade Dishwasher Powder

The move to homemade, non-commercial cleaning products continues.  This is another one I was putting off, but when I finally ran out of the gargantuan box of the brand name stuff I had been using I knew the time was right.

Homemade Dish Washer Powder
  • 1 box Borax (76oz or 4lb 12oz)
  • 1 box Arm & Hammer laundry soda (55oz) note: this is NOT baking soda!
  • 24 packages unsweetened lemonade mix (like Koolaid)
  • 3 cups epsom salt
  • 1 canister Lemi-Shine rinse aid

Mix all ingredients together in large air tight container.

Add 1 tablespoon per load.

I don't know if it's just me, or what - but this tends to want to cake up once it sits overnight.  But a wooden spoon breaks it up nicely and I've had no trouble at all with it dissolving in the dishwasher.
